Carter Martin was raised on international intrigue, but the diplomatic lessons of his youth, the training of his agency, and the rules he swore to follow will be of little help once he enters the high stakes world of antiquities in Greece. Zakari the thief, Barba Yorgi the wild one, and the most wanted man on the island, Abu Bekr, will intersect Carter's path along with friendship, loyalty, love and loss.

“The Icarus Parallel” by W.M. Pearson is a terrific first novel – part mystery, part thriller set on the storied Greek island of Crete. Pearson brings together the best of both genres: a botched but bloody CIA mission; the accidental discovery of 5,000- year-old Minoan artifacts; a string of vindictive murders around the artifacts’ appearance; an international smuggling operation that ends…well, let’s not give away the ending. At the center of the action is Carter Martin, a disillusioned second-generation CIA operative who is the Icarus of the tale. Author Pearson is himself a linguist and former intelligence analyst who spent time in Greece. His experiences and insights clearly enrich this intriguing story with a vivid sense of having been there been there, done that. I highly recommend “The Icarus Parallel” to anyone looking for an addictive read that goes beyond the usual popcorn thriller.Product details

The Icarus Parallel W M Pearson 9780615785738 Books Reviews
THE ICARUS PARALLEL is an enjoyable read. The writing was such that I could easily picture the locales and follow the characters through their mysterious journey. I will definitely share this book with my friends,
When I completed The Icarus Parallel, I had visited the magical Greek island of Crete, with its rugged terrain and mythological nuances. Along the way I met an interesting assortment of international characters who interwove a compelling storyline of intrigue filled with unexpected surprises that kept the pages turning. This is a book that makes you stay up too late but you just don't care... because tomorrow is another day. Of reading. My gratitude to author Pearson for a unique adventure.
If you're looking for great adventure, The Icarus Parallel is a first-class ticket. Not only will you ride on the coattails of the lead character (Carter Martin,) as he assumes his new identity in a tight-knit Greek community, but you'll soon feel part of his inner circle.
The author, W.M. Pearson, has obvious knowledge of just such a Cretan community, it's culture and people, and the undercover operation his lead character is assigned. Pearson's seamless ability to tell a story will have you smelling the salt air as you navigate the narrow coastal roads in search of answers. (You'll taste the wine, and also want to be in the bed that Mr. Carter occupies.)
I believe this book will appeal to both male and female readers, especially if you enjoy travel. Well done!
If you enjoy the works of Dean Koontz and Harlan Coben, I'm sure you'll enjoy this work by this, I'm sure, up and coming new author, W.M. Pearson. I was so anxious to read the book that I downloaded it so I could get started right away and then placed an order for two books, one for my library and one for a friend. I hope all those that read this work by W.M. Pearson will enjoy it as much as I have.
Mr. Pearson takes the reader on a fantastic voyage to Crete replete with well drawn characters and steeped in the history of Crete. The Minoan underworld is literally and figuratively exposed to reveal the age-old human conditions of greed, hope, despair and love. A coming of age story for the lead character is superbly written of a young American discovering the complexities of the old world. The tender story of the relationship with the stray dog brought me to tears in the telling. A must read book of 2013.
I always judge a book by how much I miss the characters when I have finished it. For several days after reading this book I felt like I had lost good friends. This book is interesting, believable, and well written. My kudos to the author. I highly recommend it!
