Usually don't review books but this one was absolutely terrific! As an avid reader of thrillers it's not often that I come across one that keeps me guessing as to what will happen next. This book makes one think about so many different facets of life with regard to choices made and the consequences to be reckoned with. While extremely descriptive in several parts , I could see why the author found it necessary to go the there. If you want an excellent read .... you must order this ! I can't wait for the author's next book.
This book is fairly well-written but the premise, that two law students would completely disregard the law to which they were going to commit their lives, is lame and frankly unbelievable. The characters were developed with some skill which is the only reason I didn't give it 1 star. The ending is even more lame than the premise - that a sadistic psychopath would meekly allow himself to be led away in handcuffs without so much as a token struggle. I'd like to see what this writer could do with a good plot and some attention to the ending.
Lot's of suspense and well written. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller you can't put down.
Started out good. Too dark & easily predictable. Rediculous mother too easily taken in. Couldn't bother to finish it.

Langwell's book is a page turner from cover to cover. If you're looking for a story driven by a dark secret and a psychopath then I would recommend reading Secrets and Malice". I enjoyed the pace of the book the most. The story begins with an accident carrying a lot of consequences and simply builds momentum. Literally, from page one the story charges hard. As the characters develop and the story unfolds the reader becomes physically tense. Several points existed at thrilling times in the book when I realized I was not only sitting straight up, but had all of the muscles in my neck and shoulders clenched. The ending will not leave the reader disappointed either. I've read too many books where closure is not delivered. Not the case with "Secrets and Malice". Langwell delivers on all fronts. Pick it up!
