If a spirited Highland lass kidnaps an English earl, does she get to keep him?

After Jessalyn MacInnes finds herself the new “laird” of Clan MacInnes, her well-meaning clansmen decide to go a-raiding to find her a bridegroom. They toss their bound captive at Jessalyn’s feet, but the last thing she expects to find is a strapping young Englishman with thick dark hair, the face of a fallen angel, and green eyes snapping with fury.

Neil Claremont, the earl of Derrowford, has journeyed to the Scottish Highlands with the Royal Corps of Engineers to fortify the king’s fortress, not to be kidnapped by a horde of barefoot savages and wed against his will. But when Neil first lays eyes on his bonny bride-to-be with her sparkling blue eyes, deliciously kissable lips, saucy wit, and steadfast devotion to her clan, he begins to remember that after every wedding comes the wedding night…

I LOVED this book! Jessalyn MacInnes finds herself Laird of her clan after her father is killed. She is unaware that her father has arranged for her marriage to an Englishman, Neil Claremont, the earl of Derrowford, who is in the Scottish Highlands with the Royal Corps of Engineers to rebuilt a castle for the king. There are no young, eligible men for her to marry, so after Neil is kidnapped and brought to her by the Ancient Gentlemen of the clan, she marries him. They begin married life on a less than stella note, but grow to like and appreciate each other as time goes by. The h is a strong, independent and intelligent laird and the H appreciates her strengths and courage. You get a glimpse of what life was like for the clans after the English took everything they had of value and how they struggled to survive. Neil is an engineer, interested in all types of buildings and he helps the clan repair their homes and castle, as well as falling in love with his bride and she with him. There are some interesting secondary characters, such as the General of the English troops, "Spotty" Oliver; the H's grandfather; the Ancient Gentlemen of the Clan; and two fellow English soldiers kidnapped along with the H.

You will not be disappointed when you read this book! I definitely will be reading more of Rebecca Hagan Lee's books!

A Hint of Heather edition by Rebecca Hagan Lee Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Can't say enough good about this book, it was excellent. I loved it from page 1 to the end. Wished it had a second, third, or more in a series. Loved the Ancient Gentlemen. -)
A very good romantic story with lots of Highland flair. The characters were full of mischief, humor and passion. I would recommend this book to all.
I enjoyed a Highland book that includes a female "laird" and a kidnapped groom. This was a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Highlander stories.
Excellent story and the tables are turned in this one. Totally kept my interest through out the book. Enjoyed the interaction between the characters immensely. I would strongly encourage the purchase of this book. Super good story.
The book contains some great characters that were likable and developed well throughout the book. I almost gave up reading this book because the lead female character was over reacting to disappointment in the first part of the book. The book improved after the character grew up a bit.
This was a wonderful book - funny, interesting, great plot, and well written. This is really one of the best fictional books about the tragedy, perseverance, and beauty of the Scottish people. The plot was hysterical, but smart; and you can't help but love both of the main characters who are thrown together and subsequently attempt to control the relationship. Anyone who likes this type of fiction will absolutely adore this book. I loved it! It was hard to put down and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Lee's other books.
Great story of two people from such different backgrounds that come together through the machinations of a much loved and powerful grandfather and king maker. Rebecca Hagan Lee's characters, Jessalyn and Neil come alive amidst a backdrop of the beautiful Scottish highlands and its castles.
